GEODES committee is currently preparing the GEODES workshop that will take place during the Swiss Geosciences Meeting 2026 in Fribourg. The topics that will be addressed is Race and Culture. More info will be available at the end of August 2026.

Last event: 

During the Swiss Geoscience Meeting 2025 that took place in Bern, the workshop focused on how language affects the way we see the world with two invited speakers: Sandrine Zufferey (UniBe), professor in French Linguistics and Balthasar Bickel (UZH) professor in General Linguistics.

 

 

How to get involved:

GEODES is always happy to welcome new members either in the executive or in the general committee. If you’re interested, please contact geodes with the contact formular.

Executive committee: The executive committee is running GEODES, organising meetings, coordinating the group, managing the website, managing the finances and so on. 

General committee: The General Committee is composed of all the people interested in getting involved, people who would like to bring topics of interest to the attention of everyone, provide opinion/expertise/help on the organisation of next events.

Ususally the Executive Committe always meets one week before each General Committee meeting for the preparation and brainstorm. All the meetings are held online. The General Committee meets maybe 3 times/year.
